Details about some of our special events!
We will feature live performances from Cat Smith, Brian from Draco & the Malfoys,
skits and more in addition to our Costume Walk and our Masquerade! Since Coal Hill is a small convention, our Masquerade will be a unique event. The format will be designed to showcase costumes, but also to serve as a Masquerade Mentoring Workshop for anyone interested in competing in future masquerades. Judges will be giving extensive feedback on how and why they make their decisions, and participants will have the chance to hone and perfect their workmanship and performances skills. The Masquerade will be limited to the first 9 attendees to sign up. If you're interested in participating please sign up ASAP!

The Prom at Coal Hill will be named in honor of another famous time traveler! We will be presenting the Enchantment Under the Sea Prom!
This will be a fun time to cut loose and dance with your fellow con-goers. While you are certainly welcome to come in any attire you’d like, we are encouraging everyone to dress in a “prom style” outfit from any era. It is afterall – a Time Traveller's Ball. Whether you show up in a classic 50s dress with feathers and beads, a gaudy but fun totally 80s style with side ponytail, or an old west themed gown sure to turn heads in the Last Chance Saloon, we are hoping to make this event a hodgepodge of styles all throughout the space-time continuum. Another fun idea would be to think about making a formal wear version of your favorite Doctor or Companion's outfit! It's a time traveller's ball so the options are quite literally - infinite. |
The Craft Fair will take place on Saturday May 21st at Coal Hill (exact times TBD) as a 3 hour block in one of our panel rooms. All attendees of Coal Hill Convention can sign up for a slot to sell their goods, make new friends and network with other crafters. Anyone at the convention is free to stop by during the event and check out the awesome wares!
Spaces for this will be limited so we encourage you to sign up early. You can sign up for all of our special events here: http://goo.gl/forms/YZ8Y6aeYlK There is no fee to vend at this as it is part of Coal Hill Registration Fee. We encourage you to advertise this ahead of time on your social media and bring your Square or set up to take Paypal payments (limited of course to the effectiveness of the Hotel WiFi/Cell Signals) in addition to cash payments. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to send me an email at stephen@coalhill.com. We are opening this to any form of made goods including t-shirts, artwork, music, crafts, costumes etc. We ask that you please refrain from selling mass market & licensed memorabilia at this event. |
If you know Terry Molloy, then you probably know Monty, his stuffed bear. Monty travels with Terry to all these cons and has developed quite a following. So much in fact that we are giving him his own panel!
We are encouraging all attendees of Coal Hill to bring their favorite stuffed animal(s) to take part in the Monty Molloy & Friends Photo Shoot. We will set up all the stuffed animals in the panel room chairs and take some great shots as Monty leads them in a wonderful discussion! |
We are in fact hoping that Coal Hill will be a Ribbon Con! For those of you who arrive at school on Thursday night we’ll have early registration available and a Ribbon Trading Shindig. It’s a perfect opportunity to get to know some of your fellow congers and get a head start on your ribbon train so you can focus on programming or cosplay on Friday!
For more details on what a Ribbon Con is please check out Gallifrey One's page on Ribbon Trading as they are really the granddaddy of Doctor Who Ribbon Conventions! |
